Nice but not flexible

These are well made but do not have a flexible foot bed that I know and love from See Kai Run. Bummed. I would have returned if I was in the return window.

Thank you for reaching out to See Kai Run! In regards to your question, our shoes are considered a medium width. However, we build shoes that promote healthy foot development, using a wider toe box that allows the toes to wiggle, just as if a child was barefoot. Our shoes don’t pinch feet and toes. We don’t add arch supports, as we know children will develop arches naturally over the course of their first 5 years. Our outsoles are very flexible, so that the foot can move naturally. See Kai Run shoes mimic the shape of the foot and it’s movement. Our first walker style shoes have a flat sole on the bottom of the shoe to help your little one adjust to wearing shoes for the first time.

We can say with a lot of confidence that our shoes fit 95% of kids feet, whether they are slim, medium or wider in volume. The reason for this is that our lasts (this is what our shoes are built around) have enough room around the forefoot/ball area and the instep area to accommodate for all three variances. If your little one does have a wider foot, we would suggest looking at our styles that have two velcro straps (such as the Russell or the Robyne) so you can adjust for a wider width. Does this shoe come in a 1W size?

Thank you for your question! Instead of carrying ‘wide’ sizes, we have specially designed ‘wide’ styles! For children with wide or chubby feet or a high instep, we recommend our styles with the double velcro strap. These allow for extra adjustability in the width of the entire shoe. Some of our toddler styles such as the Russell or Robyne have what we call a reverse strap – a velcro strap that doubles back on itself which allows extra length in the straps and more adjustability than some of our other styles. Is the Russell shoe machine washable?

Thank you for your question! Typically, we do not recommend machine washing any of our sneaker styles that feature a leather insole. Instead, we recommend spot cleaning with a damp towel and mild detergent, or cleaning with a shoe shampoo!
